Dr. Ruth Hitchcock
I was an active person involved in many sports throughout my life. Like many people, exercise took a sideline to my career and starting a family. In 2002, when my youngest daughter was 2 years of age and sleeping through the night, I started running again. My goal at the time was to lose some weight and get back into shape, but somewhere along the line something happened and the running stuck with me.
I ran my first 5 km race that spring, struggled through an 8km Duntroon to Stayner race, became humbled in the 10 km Duntroon trail run, and then decided to try a half marathon. I have been hooked ever since, and now have run 4 half marathons, and 1 full marathon.
Prior to being a chiropractor, I studied Kinesiology where I majored in physiology and biomechanics. With my background in personal training and fitness, it was a natural progression to work with the local running store. I have enjoyed sharing my enthusiasm for running with many new runners, as well as people like me who were just getting back into it again. I never get over the joy I feel when I see them start their own personal journey as a runner. I have been instructing Learn to Run clinics as well as 10 km clinics for 3 years now, and I look forward to many more.
Robin Holmgren
Robin has been a fitness and wellness enthusiast since a very young age. In 2003 she decided to follow her passion for fitness and began teaching running clinics for local running stores. Recognizing the importance of balance between muscular strength, endurance, injury prevention, diet and wellness, she became certified as a Personal Trainer and Nutrition & Wellness Specialist.
Robin has been hooked on running since elementary school, and performs well in the 10 K and half marathon distances. She boasts personal bests of 39:56 and 1:26:28 respectively. These times have put her in the top 1% of the female field.
Robin has enjoyed many jobs in her life, but this is what she loves to do. She stays current by continuing to take courses through nationally recognized fitness instruction providers and keeps herself in top physical condition so she can walk the talk.Robins enthusiasm is contagious. Her passion for helping others discover the benefits of running and healthy lifestyle habits is what gives her boundless energy.
